According to police, 2 people are injured, and 3 people are dead due to the mass shooting in the food court of a Greenwood, Indiana, shopping mall Sunday evening.

Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison said that at about 6 p.m. (local time), multiple 911 calls were made to report active shooters at Greenwood Park Mall.

The main objective and identity of the attacker in the mall's food court weren’t instantly publicized.

According to police, the attack stopped as a 22 years old “good Samaritan” who legally possessed a gun killed the attacker.

According to Ison, investigators think that an unidentified gunman, an adult male, was shot dead by a legally equipped 22 years old man who watched the shooting.

The victims included 4 women and 1 man, as well as a 12 years old girl whose parents suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital after the firing.

Chief Jim Ison said the shooter seems to have used a long-gun rifle, but law enforcement hadn't located the gun from the incident when he spoke to the reporter.
